Language Arts

Welcome to 6th grade Language Arts! I am Ms. Whitman, and I am so happy to have you in class this year! I have been teaching for 14 years, with this being my 4th year at Grant Beacon Middle School.

This course will allow you to explore issues and topics that deal with the human experience while expanding your reading and writing skills. Students will engage with both fictional and informational texts to bridge connections between real world experiences and content learned in your other courses. Learning experiences have been intentionally designed to provide students with multiple opportunities to speak, listen, read, and write at a 6th grade level to become strong communicators in a myriad of contexts. The ultimate aim of this course is to provide you with a brave space to hone your language skills so you feel empowered to use your voice and speak up. I can’t wait to get started!
